Known as the "jewel in the heart of Austin,"
Zilker Metropolitan Park offers 350+ acres to swim, paddleboard, and catch unbeatable views of the skyline. The park even has a botanical garden with pre-historic dinosaur sculptures.
For swimming at the park,
Barton Springs Municipal Pool fills with water from natural springs in the area and is the fourth largest spring in Texas. It's located within the channel of Barton Creek and is open until 10 pm each night. The water is the perfect place to relax when you're in the mood for a refreshing yet cold retreat.

Things to Do
For music lovers of every genre, the
Austin City Limits Festival is an annual two-weekend event hosted by the producers of Chicago's Lollapalooza. Each year there are over 100 artists that come to perform on the event's stages, bringing some of the best acts to perform locally. The event is held at Zilker Park and invites over 450,000 people to attend each year. You can buy 1-day or 3-day tickets to catch all your favorite acts and enjoy discounted foods from some of Austin's best restaurants.
Not a fan of music festivals? No worries, the
Zilker Kite Festival comes to town each spring and has become quite the tradition for the area. Running for over 92 years, you can partake in flying your favorite kite as high as possible or indulge in concessions as you watch kites take over the sky. The event is free and hosts a few friendly contests.
Don't see any artists you like performing at the Austin City Limits Festival or are you interested in another great concert event to attend?
Blues on the Green is a newer summer festival that's completely free. The concert happens over two days in both the month of June and July. The music starts at 7:00 p.m. and is hosted by Austin City Limits Radio.
As artistic as Zilker can be, the
Zilker Hillside Theater offers lawn seating and spectacular performances. Every summer, the theater brings a new musical to the stage and invites everyone to indulge in the excitement.
