Lake Austin and formerly known as Lake McDonald, Tarrywood is home to a magnificent water reservoir. The lake is perfect for cooling off on a summer day and a lively location for watching the sunset via shore or by boat. There's also a
spa resort for those days you want a little extra R&R. Keep in mind swimming is not permitted further than 50 feet from the shoreline as a safety precaution.
As one of Tarrytown's most well-known restaurants,

As Tarrytown's home for contemporary and historical art,
Laguna Gloria has both urban and natural exhibits that you can enjoy. The museum covers 18 acres and is one of Austin's most prominent locations. Expert tip: Thursdays are free entry.
Home of the "wild peacocks,"
Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve is something you can't miss. While the peacocks are technically free-roaming and not truly wild, they're still a sight to see. The park blends history with wildlife and sits on the edge of a bluff overlooking Lake Austin. You can explore a historic cottage at the preserve and enjoy the gorgeous gardens surrounding you, taking in stunning views spread across 20 acres of land.
